Gandikota Dam

Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi (GNSS) Project is a major irrigation project intended to provide irrigation facility to 3.25 lakhs acres in the three districts of Kadapa, Chittoor, and Nellore; and drinking water to a population of 5 lakhs living in 640 villages and towns enroute the canal

The Project envisages the drawal of 38 TMC of surplus flood waters in 45 flood days from the foreshore of Srisailam Reservoir to convey them through Srisailam Right Main Canal from Pothireddypadu, Srisailam Right Branch Canal, proposed Gorakallu Reservoir, Owk Reservoir, the proposed Gandikota Reservoir, and 8 other storage reservoirs to provide irrigation and drinking water facilities to the above cited three districts

Gandikota Reservoir is located across Penna river near Mangapatnam railway station near Muddanur (village & mandal) in Kadapa district. IL&FS Engineering and Construction Limited was successful in bagging the construction of Gandikota Dam i.e. Construction of Gandikota Dam across Penna river and earthwork excavation of GNSS Main Canal including construction of cross masonry & cross drainage (CM&CD) works from km 0.000 to km 24.330, and construction of Head Regulator and formation of Approach Canal to Head Regulator, and formation of Approach Road to Gandikota Dam site near Mangapatnam village in Kadapa district. It also includes investigation, preparation of hydraulic particulars, design & drawings, fabrication and erection of radial crest gates, stop log gates, gantry crane and so on
