Ludhiana Textile Cluster

IL&FS Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (IIDC) has prepared and submitted a detailed proposal for the Ludhiana Textile Cluster. DoIPP has approved sanction of funds for one project of the Ludhiana Textile Cluster and has released the first tranche of its contribution to the Project Special Purpose Vehicle. The projects identified for implementation are:

  • Punjab Textile Trade Centre (PTTC)
  • Hazardous Waste Management Facility (HWMF)

IIDC has entered into separate Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for the two projects with the Nimbua Greenfield Punjab Limited and Federation of Knitwear Textile and Allied Associations (FEKTAA) respectively


  • Hazardous Waste Management Facility - The Project is being implemented by Nimbua Greenfield Punjab Limited, an SPV promoted by a group of seven industries spearheaded by Vardhaman Mills and Ranbaxy Laboratories. The project has received the sanction from DoIPP. GoP is acquiring 23 acres of land for the project. The process of procurement of technical consultant for Design and Engineering Study is in advance stage. The SPV is envisaging to invite Expression of Interest from the potential operators shortly. Selection of Operator shall be completed by June 2005
  • Testing Facility – This would comprise the physical laboratory, chemical laboratory, and eco-testing laboratory. The project has been approved in-principle and is awaiting sanction from DoIPP
  • Fashion Design & Technology Institute – The institute is envisaged to provide certificate-training courses on fashion designing. A CAD/CAM designing facility would render services to the industries with respect to designing, sampling and pattern making. The project has been approved in-principle and is awaiting sanction from DoIPP
  • Information Centre – The information centre would be repository of all essential information and would act as a clearing house of data related to raw material, products, technology, fashion, market, best practices, benchmarks etc. It would be equipped with the infrastructure for data storage, data processing and data transfer facility. The project has been approved in-principle and is awaiting sanction from DoIPP
  • Business & Conferencing and Women Training Facility – It would comprise conference halls and business centres equipped with computers, communication and audiovisual equipments. The proposed conferencing facility will also be used for training the women to create more productive women workforce. The project has been approved in-principle and is awaiting sanction from DoIPP
