Pipavav Shipyard

IL&FS has supported the Sponsor, Sea King Infrastructure Limited (SKIL) in the development and implementation of the Pipapvav Shipyard since its inception and has been a Financial Investor in the project. IMICL currently holds minority equity stake in Pipavav Defence & Offshore Engineering Company Ltd. (formerly Pipavav Shipyard Ltd.)

The shipyard is strategically located next to a commercially operational Pipavav Port on the west coast of Gujarat about 130 km south of Bhavnagar, Gujarat and ~ 150 NM from Mumbai

Pipavav Shipyard has set up an integrated shipbuilding facility for carrying out ship assembly, offshore fabrication and ship repair activities. The yard has the distinction of being one of the 5 largest docks in the world and largest in the country, equipped to handle almost any size of ship including post-Panamax, VLCC types

Pipavav Shipyard is currently focusing on building Defence vessels and is the first to receive the warship production license from the Government of India. The company has formed Mazagon Dock Pipavav Defence Pvt Ltd as a joint venture with Mazagon Docks Limited (MDL) to build warships for Indian Navy

Globally, Pipavav Shipyard is the first and only non-polluting, environment friendly shipyard - compliant with international safety measures, and observing the most stringent safety standards, meeting the MARPOL and OILPOLL standards
