A major industrial city and Gujarat’s state commercial capital - Ahmedabad needs strong infrastructural backing to grow. In an attempt to facilitate growth, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board invited private participation in building roads, ports, power, railways, airports, urban infrastructure, water supply, information infrastructure and industrial parks, amongst many other identified infrastructure sectors.
One such project was to build a 52.6 kilometre, 4-lane state highway linking Ahmedabad to Mehsana, an important oil town to the north of the city. This Rs 378 crore project, now successfully completed, significantly caters to commercial traffic movement between Gujarat and parts of North India
Commissioned in February 2003, the project was completed 8 months ahead of schedule within the budgeted cost of Rs 3047.19 mn
