As a part of the IL&FS Group's SEZ and Marine Complex in Kutch, IL&FS Energy is developing a 3,960 MW coal-based power project and a 2,000 MW gas-based power project at Nana Layja in Kutch, Gujarat.

Innovations and Impact

  1. The coal-based power project includes an all-weather captive port for unloading of 17 MTPA coal, and a 60 MLD desalination plant to meet the water requirement of the integrated complex. The natural gas based Combined Cycle Power Project (CCPP) comprises advance class gas turbines with 5 MTPA LNG terminal and an all-weather captive jetty for unloading of LNG.
  2. The projects are located in India's Liquefied Natural Gas supply hub. The western coastline is also the most suitable location to receive LNG from the Middle East. The project site is also ideally located to meet the energy and gas requirement of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, along which the Government of India is developing 6 new Special Investment Regions and industrial townships.
  3. Nana Layja is strategically located to provide gas-based power to balance the anticipated increase in the Renewable Energy capacities in the Western Region. It is also well suited for setting up peaking power plants to cater to peaking power requirements.
  4. The multiproduct SEZ/FTWZ is proposed to be developed as a world class destination for attracting major investors from across the world. By attracting investment from potential investors, the project will bring significant benefits to the region and the local people.
