Baleshwar–Kharagpur Expressway
The National Highway Authority of India mandated ITNL to develop existing 119 km of the National Highway 60 from Baleshwar to Kharagpur, which included construction of new bridges and structures, repair of existing four-lane highway, and a fully modern system for safe and efficient movement of traffic.
Innovations and Impact
- Dismantled PQC has been used as the GSB after crushing and proper gradation. Being the same thickness as stone pitching, it has also been utilized for this purpose.
- Earlier a number of people lost their lives and crops due to overtopping of the flood/rain water on this road and breaching the roads and bridges on NH-60. This issue is now eradicated with sufficient bridges and cross drainage along this stretch.
